Women Empowerment Internship Program

This program takes place in different locations with local organizations that works for women to help them with different problems that they have. This could be things such as domestic violence, poverty, unemployment, unedducation amongst all but it is important to help women in hard situations to get on their feet as they also are the ones that in general takes care of the children and therefore the women are soo important for the next generation and their chances to a good life.

These organizations works in different ways to reach their goals but most of them have one thing in common and that is that they dont get any direct help from the government but has to rely on their ideas to keep moving on and for this reason they also cooperate with other local organizations to help eachother.

Interns Role

Interns will work together with the rest of the staff in the project with the cases they get. This can of course mean that they also will work with people from other local organizations as they often have to cooperate. They can help in different way depending on their skills and the cases with investigations and collect information for example but sometimes the women can also need some support and being shown their options and rights to move on in the right direction and here the interns can also help by preparing information or help during workshops.

Location And Working Hours

The program takes place in the Andean Mountains and the Amazon region.

Interns work Monday to Friday from about 08:00 to 17:00 with a brake for lunch.

Our Experience

Interns that we have seen doing best in this kind of projects are definitely students within peace and conflict, law, social science, psychology, human rights or similar that also have a good intermediate Spanish as almost everything is about gather and present information in one way or the other, all in Spanish.

Many times it also takes about 2-4 weeks before interns start to feel comfortable in the project and they know what to do and can work more independent. Most of the time interns also need to be very forward and have the initiative to come with ideas on how to move the project or case forward, maybe by looking for new information, find and contact other people or projects etc and they should not expect that someone always stand behind their back to tell them what to do.
