Sport Volunteer Program

In the two projects the children range from 4 years up to about 16 years and the idea is to help children to be active in their life as an active body help to get an healthy mind. As soccer is the national sport it is of course the best way to get more children to participate and through sport they also see that they can help develop the children's values in things like fair play, team work and friendship which will hopefully help them in the future.

In the project on the coast it is also a way of getting the children to study and get an education. As this project is located in a poor area where many families have amongst all economic problems the children who loves soccer can only participate as long as they take care of their studies and while the younger children study in the morning the older play soccer and in the afternoon they switch.

Volunteers Role

Volunteers will work together with the coaches and coach assistants during practice. If they have other ideas about exercises or ways to practice they will normally have an excellent chance to talk to the coach about how to work things out or they might even be able to hold the practice on their own.

Location And Working Hours

The two projects we work with are on the Galapagos Islands and on the coast of Ecuador.

The project in the Galapagos Islands works in the afternoon from 15:00 to 18:00 while the project on the coast works during most of the day depending on the age group with a break for lunch.

Our Experience

Most people can take part of this but some experience within soccer is required and some experience of working with children and adolescents is recommended.

Due to the often warm climate it is a must to be in a good physical condition.
