PUKA INTI Spanish school

Entry photo example PUKA INTI Spanish school is an institution created to offer personalized instruction in the learning of Spanish as a Second Language . Our fabulous teachers, our focus on school activities, and our warm, family-like atmosphere make us a school like no other. We offer home stays with a select group of local Ecuadorian families, and our focus on quality ensures our students an experience to be cherished forever!

Even those who have had no prior Spanish exposure will be completing basic Spanish phrases after the first day! Classes are held Monday through Friday from 8:30-12:30 and 2:00-6:00, and students may start any day of the week

Students and teachers work one-on-one, which allows each student to work at his/her individual level. We place particular emphasis on flexibility and students can pick the areas they wish to emphasize - conversation, comprehension, writing, etc. All of our teachers have a minimum of 10 years experience in teaching Spanish as a second language.

The school offers a relaxed tranquil environment. We speak English, French, German, Swedish and of course Spanish. We can therefore provide much help to many cultures. A familiar and friendly atmosphere guarantee you a pleasant and interesting stay in Quito.

The school is located in an area where it´s close to banks, Internet , phones to call international, travel agency's and buses to go anywhere in the city or the country.

Our teachers

Entry photo example Puka Inti´s experienced teaching staff are sensitive to student’s individual needs and abilities. Our Spanish teachers are all trained, native speakers with an exceptional amount of patience, so even the most nervous student feels comfortable. Our students feel relaxed because our teachers make them feel at ease when using the language. We use a variety of teaching methods and aids, all of which are dynamic and fun, and mean that you can actually communicate in Spanish rather than just knowing a few standard phrases.

Other places to study Spanish

We can upon request arrange Spanish classes in different parts of Ecuador for volunteers, groups and interns that don't want to stay in Quito. Depending on the location we will arrange a local teacher or if not possible one of our teachers from Quito will accompany the participant to the destination of choice.

We arrange classes in a number of different locations as:

Quito
Mindo
Otavalo
Cuenca

Santa Cruz, Galapagos Islands

Yuturi lodge
Yarina lodge

Cultural program

Entry photo example We help the students organize cultural events during the week as many of our students wants to visits to museums, galleries, cultural centers etc. As they go with their teacher they have a perfect chance to learn and practice Spanish while learning about Ecuador, its history and culture. The students can also visit the local fruit market to try and discus the joys of nature that Ecuador offers or just take a walk in one of the parks to just practice conversation with the teacher.
The students chose once they are in school together with their teacher what activities they want to do as its all up to them.

Once a week we organize salsa classes where the students can learn the basics steps and gain more confidence to go out to the lively bars and clubs in Quito! Our salsa teachers are professionals with a lot of experience in teaching salsa. If students want to take a professional dance course we can help them to arrange that with one of the many salsa schools in the area.

Every second week our teachers prepares a typical Ecuadorian dish together with the students. This is a practical way to learn how to make some of the dishes that you may have enjoyed eating here. You will see the kinds of ingredients we use here, and some of the traditional cooking methods. It’s a sociable event which gives you the opportunity to chat with other teachers and students in the school, and above all, to practice using the Spanish that you have learnt in your classes.

Excursions

Entry photo example Each week, we plan a weekend outing for students. We plan trips to places that our students want to visit, usually the full weekend. Typically, we plan these visits so the students have the chance to see rural life in Ecuador. We visit tourist attractions such as Baños (a small town at the foot of the Tungurahua volcano), Otavalo (the most famous indigenous market in Ecuador, surrounded by beautiful countryside), Cotopaxi (one of Ecuador’s most famous volcanoes), Papallacta (thermal springs, where you can relax in steaming water whilst enjoying views of the Andes) etc.

We also help to organized trips to the Amazon Jungle, cruises in the Galapagos Islands, climbing Cotopaxi or any other destination that the students like to see.
