Micro Credit Internship Program

The many micro credits institutions in Ecuador fills an important role for many people as this is the only way for many to even have a chance to get a loan that can help them to start a small business. They normally also have less interest than the banks for similar loans which makes it easier for poor people.

Many of the micro credit institutions has several different types of loans depending on their size as only micro loans makes it hard for them to survive. This can except the micro loans of $100 up to $500 be construction loans up to $80.000 on 15 to 20 years, repair or infrastructure loan of up to $35.000 on 3 to 5 years or emergency loans up to $20.000 on 1 to 2 years and of course they have different requirements that has to be fulfilled by the clients.

Interns Role

Interns will mostly work with analysis of applications that need to present their project to show in what kind of business they are going to use the money and how profitable it will be in this way they can guaranty that the loan will be paid fully.

Interns will also review the applicant's background and follow-up of clients. They will have the chance to work in the different departments like accounting, cashier, client service, department of analysis, management department or default credit department.

Location And Working Hours

The projects are located in the Andean Mountains or the Amazon region.

Interns work Monday to Friday from about 08:00 to 17:00 with a break for lunch.

Our Experience

Spanish is important as it involves work with clients and a lot of documents. Some experience or education within finances or micro credits is also important to be able to understand and contribute to the cooperative.

Interns need to be open and forward as shy will have a hard time to integrate and get into the work.
