Journalist internship
The participants will work in either Quito or Ibarra in “La Hora” or “El Norte”. They have the opportunity to work either as a reporter or as a photographer and they will work together with the rest of the staff in the news papers to gather information, write articles, take pictures etc and anything they do might get published as long as ait looks good enough and stands up to the standards of the news paper. Depending on the participants knowledge and Spanish level they can also come with their own ideas on articles that they work on by themselves by gathering information and writing the story.
Depending on the article they are writing they might travel around in different parts of the region and because of this they might not always be able to eat their lunch in the host family, they might sometimes have to eat out in restaurants or if possible they get a lunch box from the host family.
Getting there
Participants go alone or with other participants but they will be taken to the bus station by a memeber of the organization to make sure they get the right bus. On arrival somebody from the host family meets them at the bus station.
Travel time to
Ibarra is about 3 hours.
Accommodation
Participants will live with a host family where they have a private room and a shared bathroom. They will have 3 meals and lunch can be either with the family as a box lunch due to the work. Depending on what family they stay with they will normally have 10 to 30 minutes walk or the same time by bus to the newspaper.

Requirements
Intermediate Spanish.
CV or RESUME.
Interest in working with people.
Interest, education or experience in working as a journalist or photographer.
Open-mindedness to work and live in a different culture.
Photographers need to bring their camera.
