High School Program
What most international students have in common is a general fascination with the world and how it operates. Studying abroad opens the doors to global understanding.
Study abroad is a learning experience which gives the student the best opportunity to broaden its horizons and expand its awareness than to live, study, and experience another country and culture, will help them to gain a meaningful and complete personal satisfaction. The study abroad experience provides students with this unique and unsurpassed opportunity for personal growth, individual revelation and maturity, the possibility to learn a new language or improve it and develop a sense of confidence and personal accomplishment. These qualities demonstrate to others that you are an individual worth investing in -- someone with an enlarged worldview who is not afraid to grow.
Where does the program take place?
The program takes place in the beautiful Spanish-speaking country of Ecuador, the land of the Galapagos Islands, the Andes mountains and the Amazon rain forest. Our programs operate in the capital city Quito, in Cuenca and on the Galapagos Islands. Quito, located just at the equator, is the second highest city in Latin America, and is blessed with a near perfect climate. Cuenca is the other city in which EcuEVP students are placed. This "Athens of Ecuador" is a dignified city with the most intact colonial character in the country, an ideal place for strolling, whether along its river banks or between its many churches, theaters and museums. Cuenca has a small town feeling but boasts three universities and was the first regular meeting place of poets in Latin American. San Cristobal, the Galapagos’ capital city, is the most easterly Island in the archipelago and one of the oldest in this Insular geological formation. It has lovely white coral and shelled beaches. In its blue waters a large number of the marvelous species which inhabit the archipelago can be discovered. Among them are large colorful birds and sea lions. The School Year Program runs for one academic year and begins in September or April depending on the country’s region. EcuEVP students live with a host family and attend a local secondary school as a full-time student. The Semester Program runs for four to six months and begins in September or April depending on the country’s region. Again, EcuEVP students live with a host family and attend a local secondary school as a full-time student.
